A challenge to change
We have completed more than seventy years of independence of our nation.
So far we have witnessed great progress in agriculture, industry, information technology, defence and many more sectors, and a sea change in overall economic conditions as well.
However the progress has its dark sides and areas of concerns also.
Health services in our country are very poor and particularly of tribal areas are utterly appalling.
Another big concern is the deep rooted socioeconomic problem of malnutrition. About four lakh children throughout country and about seventy five thousand children from Maharashtra alone, particularly from tribal sector, are victims of it and many of them meet an unfortunate and untimely death at an early age because of the same.
Lack of health services and awareness about health and hygiene, illiteracy, various wrong social beliefs or taboos are some of the main reasons behind this socioeconomic problem.
To find solution to this problem Herculean efforts are required not only from government but from different NGOs also, serving to the society.
We took up this challenge and tried our best to change this appalling scenario of deaths due to malnutrition to a celebration of healthy childhood.
We could achieve this positive change to a great extent over the years due to our untiring efforts and steadfast determination.
